Building Useful Habits
In the previous lesson, you chose a first simple step.
Some things you want can be accomplished with one action. Others develop by doing them regularly.
You might begin learning a skill or developing a habit by trying it once. This might be a sport, a social activity, or playing an instrument. If you decide it is something for you, returning to it gives you a chance to improve.
A habit is something you are used to doing. Many everyday actions require little thought because you have done them so often.
Consider whether the simple action you thought of before, repeated, would help achieve what you want.
Making it a habit locks it in and makes it more and more real and comfortable.
At some point you can ask yourself if there is an easier or more useful way to do it.
You can adjust the action as it gets more familiar.
Keep in mind what you want to achieve. The habit is useful because it helps you get there.
Sometimes you just have to DO IT, or keep doing it.
I hope this has helped you take a step toward something you want.
If you'd like, write and tell me how it went. Was anything useful? Was anything unclear? I'd be glad to hear from you.
